Spread across more than 40 hectares, the Gramat Wildlife Park is home to over 1,000 wild and domestic animals of European origin. A two to three-hour walk will introduce you to around 150 different species.
Mammals You Can Encounter in the Lot Region
The park is home to a wide variety of mammals, including several carnivorous species such as:
- Brown bears, Lynxes, Otters, Foxes, Grey wolves, Raccoons, Polecats, Raccoon dogs ;

- Equines such as Tarpan horses, Shetland ponies, Poitou donkeys and Provence donkeys ;
- Deer species including black fallow deer, roe deer, white fallow deer, wapiti, axis deer and reindeer;

- Suids including Bayeux pigs and Limousin pigs;
- Bovines such as yaks, European bison and Highland cattle ;

At the Gramat Wildlife Park, visitors can admire a wide variety of birds. The park is home to birds of prey such as owls and vultures, as well as ornamental species like swans, peacocks, ducks and pheasants. You’ll also encounter rare and elegant birds including white storks, graceful cranes, pelicans and emus.
Preserving Rare Breeds
The park is actively involved in conservation efforts, working daily with animal caretakers across six dedicated conservatories. These teams focus on protecting endangered breeds, including Hungarian cattle, Pyrenean goats, Mérens horses and Faverolles chickens.

Can You Visit the Animals in Winter?
Yes, the park remains open during the winter months. However, marmots are not visible during this time as they hibernate.
Can Visitors Feed the Animals?
During your visit, you can purchase special feed pellets on site to offer to the animals. It’s important to note that other types of food may be harmful to their health. Unauthorised feeding can also disrupt group dynamics, pose risks to visitors, and cause stress among the animals.
Is It Possible to Buy Animals?
In September, the park sells poultry depending on availability. For other species, you are invited to contact the park’s management directly.

A professional caretaker will welcome you at the park entrance and guide you through the preparation and distribution of animal meals. You’ll also learn how to clean and maintain the animals’ living spaces. This mini-workshop offers insight into the daily operations of the park, species conservation, breeding, and training.
This individual activity is available year-round and open to participants aged 8 and above. You can book in two ways:
- Direct booking: Choose a fixed date based on availability ;
- Gift option: Let the recipient select their preferred date
This experience is especially valuable for those considering a career in animal care or training, such as at a zoo like Gramat.
Annual Pass: Enjoy the Park’s Highlights
With an annual pass, you can take part in all major events at the park, including the birth of young animals and new installations. The pass grants unlimited access to:

You’re welcome to explore the Gramat Wildlife Park freely, without joining any scheduled activities. Whether you’re visiting with family, friends or your partner, it’s a wonderful place to spend a relaxing day.
Please note that pets are not allowed in the park. Only assistance dogs and guide dogs are permitted.
Feel free to bring a sun hat, picnic supplies and anything else to make your visit more comfortable.
Food & Drink at the Park
The park features several green areas where you can enjoy a picnic. Please be aware that there is no luggage storage, so you’ll need to keep your personal belongings with you.
From Easter to All Saints’ Day, the park offers simple, locally sourced food options. The self-service restaurant is open:

The snack bar is open year-round and serves drinks, waffles, crêpes and ice cream.
Opening Hours Gramat wildlife park:
Low season: 13:30 – 17:30 (1 January–17 February, 6 March–6 April, 6 November–31 December) During the winter holidays, the park opens exceptionally at 12:30.
Mid-season: 10:00 – 18:30 (7 April–7 July, 1 September–5 November)
High season: 09:00 – 19:00 (8 July–1 August)
